Dear parents, staff and students of San Francesco D’Assisi Middle School,
Thank you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach something that I always thought just came naturally, but I’ve come to realize that knowing English is truly a privilege. I hope that my teaching methods and techniques helped improve the students’ conversational English and pronunciation. But most of all, I hope I made half as much of an impact as they made on me.
In the last few days of school, some of the kids said the most touching and unforgettable things to me as I said my goodbyes. In 2D, one boy walked up to me at the end of class to say thank you so much for all that you’ve done for us and I hope you have a great Easter. In class 3D, the kids clapped for me as I exited the room and one kid yelled that he was about to cry! They also asked for my autograph and it was quite flattering! In 3A they made me a beautiful card which I will cherish forever. And last but not least, one girl in 3D, you know who you are, gave me some of the best wisdom I’ve heard in my life. She told me she hopes I achieve all of my dreams and that I will be able to do everything that I want. I just about teared up.
These students have given me a sense of purpose in a place where I didn’t know it was possible. They are so smart and kind each in their own ways. They have taught me so much about myself and how much I love teaching. Thank you, students, parents for allowing me to help out and staff for allowing me in your classes! You will not be forgotten.
